Jeremy B. Strauss
Jeremy B. Strauss is the CEO of The Grand Healthcare System. Jeremy began his career in the healthcare field in 1995 with the Hebrew Academy for Special Children non-profit organization where he was instrumental in the creation of specialized residences for the mentally disabled. He entered the nursing home field in 1996 as Assistant Director of Admissions, working his way up the ladder to becoming an owner and operator of his first home just eight years later. Since then he has been a partner in the purchase and operations of over 30 skilled nursing facilities.
Jeremy went on to create his own brand of unparalleled skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities. As the CEO of The Grand Healthcare System, Jeremy is a strong believer in treating every guest as if they were family, lavishing care on the entire person and not just their medical needs. While Jeremy’s immediate focus is on each guest’s clinical needs, what distinguishes him is that he understands the importance of customer service and personal needs as well.
Jeremy has a degree in finance and economics from Yeshiva University and has been a volunteer EMT for over 25 years. A certified mohel who sits on the boards of many charitable institutions and schools, Jeremy lives on Long Island with his wife who was his high school sweetheart, and five children, where he is an integral part of his community.
Jonathan J. Strauss
Executive Vice President
Jonathan began his career as a computer programmer for a New Jersey based boutique software company, making the move to healthcare in 2003. Jonathan ran a healthcare consulting firm for 10 years, before hiring on as marketing director at a large nursing home conglomerate, working his way up to his current position at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing. Jonathan graduated from Yeshiva University with a bachelors in computer science in 2001 and has a masters degree in quantitative software engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology. A father of two daughters, who serves as the financial secretary for his local synagogue, Jonathan and his wife live in Riverdale.
Senior Vice President
Joe is a 1992 graduate of Touro College with 22 years experience in international manufacturing and has spent the last 10 years cultivating his expertise in sales and marketing. He hopes to bring an unprecedented level of service to the nursing home industry by treating residents as guests and offering concierge services that will introduce a hotel style ambiance and offer the ultimate in customer loyalty to every guest at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing. Joe, a Brooklyn resident and a father of four, is an integral part and a dedicated volunteer at Our Place, which serves teens battling drug and alcohol addictions.
Regional Vice President
Bruce is a graduate of Suny Polytechnic in Utica, New York with an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He has been in the health care field for 35 years. Bruce created one of the first managed long term care programs in New York State and has testified on Capitol Hill before the Senate’s Special Committee on Aging about environmental redesign and programs. He has also appeared on the MacNeil Lehrer News Hour, has been featured in several trade publications and has been honored with two community leadership awards in recognition of his innovative approach to health care and his job creation activities. Bruce looks forward to providing the highest level of care and service to every guest, as always giving his all in a Grand fashion.
Regional Vice President
Dan has been a licensed New York State nursing home administrator since 1998. He has a bachelors from the State University at Albany and a masters from Hofstra University. A proven leader with an excellent record with the Department of Health, Dan has been a frequent nursing home visitor since age five and his work with the elderly is the realization of a lifelong dream. Dan has experience in both the profit and not for profit sectors and he understands the customer service aspect of health care in addition to having expectations for clinical excellence. His unique ability to assemble successful management teams and his gift for appreciating every guest and family member at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Queens make Dan an integral part of the facility. Dan’s many efforts on behalf of his community have earned him a community service award from the United Jewish Council of the Lower East Side.
Regional Clinical Director
Elizabeth is responsible for the oversight of all clinical processes, policies and outcomes for our upstate Grand region. A registered nurse with over 20 years experience, Elizabeth began her career as a nursing assistant and as she continued her education and her career, she worked her way up to Director of Nursing in rehabilitative, long term and home care settings. Elizabeth works closely with directors of nursing, clinical educators, infection prevention specialists, quality improvement leaders, pharmacists, rehab therapists, dietitians, social workers, physicians and medical directors to best possible clinical outcomes for our guests. Elizabeth, whose contributions and expertise drive The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing’s clinical excellence, also oversees our clinical risk management and regulatory compliance efforts through education and audit, and serves as a critical source of clinical and regulatory knowledge for our administrative team.
Candace J. Spencer
Regional Clinical Director
Candace is responsible for the oversight of all clinical processes, policies and outcomes for our downstate Grand region. Candace has a bachelors in nursing and a masters in nursing administration, both awarded by the College of New Rochelle. A certified nursing administrator, with an advanced director certificate, Candace has over 30 years experience in the field and her strong clinical experience, coupled with her administrative and academic background, labor relations and state and federal regulatory experience make her a tremendous asset to The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Corporate Director of Facilities Management
With a bachelors degree in business and extensive work experience in investment banking and real estate management, Avi brings a broad array of knowledge to The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing, where he is intimately involved in construction, maintenance, building related efficiency, space allocation and ensuring building safety. Avi’s title only shows a brush stroke of the portrait he plays at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing as his interior design skills and talent enhance both the guest and staff experience on a daily basis. Avi lives on Long Island with his wife, his high school sweetheart, and their children.
